Facebook for Every Phone Gets Photo Filters

Less than one month after shelling out $1 billion to acquire photo-sharing application Instagram, Facebook added two Instagram-like photo filters to its Facebook for Every Phone app. However, a Facebook spokesperson told sister blog Inside Facebook the filters were developed by one of the social network's engineers during a Hackathon event, and had nothing to do with Instagram. Facebook for Every Phone allows Facebook access from feature phones, or non-smartphone mobile phones. The social... read more>>

Obama Announces Summer Jobs, Facebook Apps

President Barack Obama is no stranger to social media, so it came as no surprise that when he called on private and public sectors to help address record unemployment with job creation in January, he followed that by setting forth a month-long challenge to application developers. The call-to-action for techies was to create apps for youth-friendly platforms, such as Facebook, to help make job listings more accessible to young people. When Obama announced... read more>>
